49th Parallel

Maybe it's just me, but...

[What would you do if you knew you could not fail?]

Is it this fear of failure that keeps us from doing what we want? The feelings, the rejection, the disappointment of others. Fear of the unknown. We are creatures of habit. We get in a pattern, a mode, a rut. Change is stressful. Taking a chance is stressful.

It's so easy when you're trying a new place or a new beer. Wander along the street. Look in. Open the door. "Ah, that looks nice, I think I'll have a..." Of course all you're doing is just showing up. Well, there's something in that, isn't there? Reminds of Woody Allen's remark: "80% of life is just showing up." Why does that ring so true?

Wallflower on Main: vegan poutine and $3 cans of Old Milwaukee.
Cascade on Main: 49th Parallel Black Hops Lager
Lotus on Main: get a table near the window so you can see if the buses run on time.
Portland on Main: the bold flavours of Oregon. I honestly don't remember what I had there. It was good. I'll try to pay more attention next time.

Spring is here and it's full on now.
Just not the warmth. Am getting tired of the chill. Spring is new and renewal. For me it's the end. The end of the year. Feeling worn, not renewed. Have to turn it around. Mentally. Physically. Need some heat.

Now's the time.
Now's the time for that change. When time is yours. Tough to get out of that mindset. Or is it? Leave it all behind and get back into your own head for a few months.

This blog posting's getting quite introspective.

Time to refresh. Time to show up.
